Form cues

Place feet under a low anchor; lie on a mat with hips and knees bent
Hold the plate on your chest with forearms crossed over it
Flex and twist your waist simultaneously to one direction as you rise
Return until your shoulders contact the floor
Alternate sides each rep for balanced oblique development

Step-by-step technique

Place your feet under a low stationary object and lie on a mat with your hips and knees bent.

Hold a weight plate on your chest with both hands, forearms crossed over the plate.

Engage your core and brace your lower back against the mat.

Flex your waist and twist your torso to one direction while raising it off the mat.

Continue until your torso is upright and rotated.

Return your torso back down until the back of your shoulders contacts the mat.

Twist to the opposite side on the next rep.

Continue alternating sides for the desired number of reps.
