Form cues

Hook feet under the support; lie on the incline with hips and knees bent
Hold the weight plate on your chest with forearms crossed over it
Rise by bending at your waist and hips — engage your abs first, not your neck
Return until shoulders contact the bench — no bouncing at the bottom
Control the entire range, especially the descent

Step-by-step technique

Hook your feet under the support and lie on an incline board with your hips and knees bent.

Hold a weight plate on your chest with both hands, forearms crossed over the plate.

Engage your core and rise by bending at your waist and hips.

Continue until your torso is upright.

Pause briefly at the top.

Return your torso back down until the back of your shoulders contacts the board.

Repeat for the desired number of reps without bouncing at the bottom.

Maintain control throughout the entire range of motion.
